How to enable the trackpad on Acer Aspire E13 (ES1-311)

Posted on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in User

Note to future self, or to whoever may run into this issue:

I recently installed Windows 10 on a newly bought Acer E13 laptop. However I quickly noticed that I couldn’t get around as much as I wanted – the trackpad wouldn’t work.

Suffices to say that all manner of driver installs didn’t solve the issue. However, on an Acer community board, I found a hint to solving the problem.┬áTo enable the tackpad do the following:

  1. Reboot the laptop and hold down the F2
  2. In the BIOS settings which open, go to the Main tab and locate the Trackpad option
  3. Change the setting from “Advanced” to “Basic”
  4. Press F10 to save the settings and reboot

Hopefully this fixes your trackpad. Enjoy!
