Android Contact Picker v2.1 released

Posted on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Coding

I just pushed commits to the Android contact picker incrementing the version to 2.1.

Notable changes in this version include:

  • If a contact only has one number, that number is returned without going to the contact details page first. (courtesy of Avi)
  • The library now targets API level 15, although it still supports from API level 7 (Android 2.2 Froyo) and above
  • The library now makes use of asynchronous loaders for loading the contacts list. So if you have an especially big contacts list, you might notice some speed/responsiveness improvements.

Yes, you read that right. I am using asynchronous loaders. After our little fight, we had a nice discussion and now all is good in loader land ;).

By the way, nothing changes in the API and you can upgrade to this release without any worries. Happy contact picking!
